Trip to Coorg in October 2008

Coorg is one of the best hill stations I have visited till date - simply because of its picturesque natural beauty lavished by greenery and small hills. If you are expecting a Sikkim here then you would be disappointed but if you come here with an open mind to embrace nature then you are in for a treat!

Coorg is also known as the Scotland of India - it is 252 km. from Bangalore. We went by KRSTC Volvo bus there. The tickets would cost you around Rs. 600 per head. Madikeri is the destination you need to arrive and there are quite a few descent hotels nearby to the bus stand. Ask any auto-walla there, they'll take you to a good hotel. The place is yet to be commercialized and there lies it's beauty.

Our hotel was very near to Raja's seat and every evening we used to wait for the Sunset at Raja's seat - it was truly memorable one as you can figure out from the snaps below.

Next day we hired a can and he took us to Thalacauvery, Abbey falls, Nisarghadhama, Nyingmapa Monastery. I'll start with Thalacauvery, Abbery falls and Nisarghaghama and wrap it up with Nyingmapa monastery which deserves special mention being truly exceptional.

Daman.....

Well, to be honest, Daman comes no-where near Goa or Diu in beauty but I kind of liked Daman, especially the Sunset at Daman Ganga. Here's a glimpse of what I saw. Hope you'll like it.

The outside world....

My stay at IIM-A is nearing it's end and I am kind of feeling the pinch. I really love this place, the ambiance, the exposed brick buildings, the greenery... there can't be anything like here. Now, the outside world ... I am still not sure where, maybe Mumbai, maybe Delhi. But, the kind of life I got here, I know for sure I won't get anywhere in the World. So, a nostalgic me is posting a few snaps from the Diwali we had last year.
